ARTIST BIO

Elly has always been interested in all things creative and especially if it involved making something worthwhile or artistic out of something that appeared to have little worth at the time.

These values of practicality and making the most out of what you have, were a gift passed on by her Dutch migrant parents, who needed to be frugile when they arrived in Australia in 1960.

Her creativity and ability to work with what is at hand also reflects in her home, where she showcases many of her furniture pieces and flair for colour. She enjoys upcycling furniture and experimenting with various paint methods and stains. She has sold numerous pieces of her Retro style furniture.

Several life changing health battles started in 2011 which lead her to new friends facing similar challenges. They suggested Art and in particular introduced her to Collage, which turned out to be great therapy. This flowed onto using other mediums and 'Mixed Media" became a new passion.  Acrylic paints and pens were to follow, adding new dimensions to her work.

There are no boundaries as to what materials she will use to create fun, colourful and inspriing pieces of work. The journey ahead with experimentation is both exciting and incredibly fulfilling.

Elly's Artwork was accepted into the Victor Harbour Art Show 2017(their 1st year for mixed media/collage) and later in the year, the Tea Tree Gully Art Show.

Currently and until end January 2018, 7 pieces of her artwork are part of a collaboration called 'The Artists Collective', being shown at the Cambelltown Public Library in their Exhibition space.
