Artist CV \r\n \r\nAshton Boyd (b. 1988 Adelaide) \r\n \r\nArtist Name - BAY \r\n \r\nwww.Baytheartist.com \r\n \r\nbaytheartist@outlook.com \r\n \r\n \r\n \r\nBAY’s work represents her experience with mental health and identity. Acrylic paints are marbled and react with gel mediums to represent the unpredictable symptoms of anxiety and depression. She incorporates intricate line work to represent topography on a map giving the impression of islands, and Kupesi (traditional geometric motifs) as a reference to her Polynesian ancestry. \r\n \r\nHer abstract expressionist paintings are a metaphor for the isolating feeling mental health symptoms often result in, making you feel as though you are alone on an island. \r\n \r\n \r\n \r\nExhibitions \r\n \r\n2016 \r\n \r\nOctober Albert Park College Art Show, Port Melbourne, VIC \r\n \r\nOctober The Mission to Seafarers Exhibition, Docklands, VIC \r\n \r\nOctober Raw Melbourne presents VERVE, Melbourne Pavillion, Flemington, VIC \r\n \r\nSeptember Ginger’s Coffee Studio, Goodwood, SA \r\n \r\nAugust The Secret Art of Life, The Royal Australasian College of Surgeons, North Adelaide, SA \r\n \r\nAugust SALA Festival ‘Second Nature’, Ecocaddy, Adelaide, SA \r\n \r\nJuly The Advertiser Contemporary Art Prize Finalist’s Exhibition, Keith Murdoch House, Adelaide, SA \r\n \r\nJuly Mind Maps, The Organic Market and Café, Stirling, SA \r\n \r\nJune Raw Adelaide Presents TREND, The Producers Bar, Adelaide, SA \r\n \r\n \r\n \r\nMedia Publications \r\n \r\n2016 Masya Zabidi, “Artist Spotlight #6: Bay The Artist”, Collage Adelaide, February 23 \r\n \r\nCompetitions \r\n \r\n2016 Finalist, Albert Park College Art Show \r\n \r\n2016 Finalist, Mission to Seafarers Art Prize \r\n \r\n2016 Finalist, The Advertiser Contemporary Art Prize |
